Worlds biggest (15″) commercially accessible OLED Tv… incredibly thin at only three.two mm, OLED presents unparalleled image contrast. Video Rating: four / five
@Piacco2706 the screen itself is 0.8mm, but its pasted like a film onto a firm thicker surface. OLED will replace newspapers and magazines once they figure out the battery life, durability, etc.
Well, if you’re feeling rich, this thing would make the ultimate hardcore gaming PC monitor since OLED’s have RIDICULOUSLY small response time. (other than the somewhat limited 768p resolution, but for older games like CSS I’d image it’d be fine)
thus all that remains is the switch over to the new tech. on the fab lines but no panel maker wants to lose money while doing this , so they ramp out production on the old stuff and up on the new stuff in steps. I predict OLED will ramp up faster than any display tech. in history, this time next year there will be 30″ panels at the show..in two years..they’ll be at 60 and 70″; sizes LCD and Plasma simply become unwieldy at. OLED is *the end* of display tech it gets no better.
The reason the screen is “only” 15″ has to do with how new technology is scaled into service on a fab (semiconductor/panel fabricating factory).
The current generation technology of choice for displays is of course LCD, this year the LED backed LCD’s saw lots of play but note the OLED’s are already 15″. When LCD first came out it was around 10 years before they were big enough to put in a tv screen! The rate of scale hampered by how expensive they were..OLED’s are dirt cheap to make (cont)
No, Sony has a 24″ OLED on display at ces. That is a size that is at least usable as a computer monitor. Hell i’d die for that, well almost.. : ) and it does 3D. only 9″inches larger which makes a world of difference.

Holly fck i like OLED Wait 42″ TV
It’s probably the OLED panel itself, if you read in the product specifications later on you will see that the TV is 6.9mm thick.
0.8 mm? thats less than 1 mm right? 1 millimeter? it looks thicker in the vid

apearently this is as far as technology alowes it to go. Still some issues they have to deal with in oled displays
LOL, 15″ !!! I guess LG doesn’t understand the term home THEATER… and not even big enough to be a monitor for a pc… Common guys get a clue.
